(This is the 4nd Part of the series)
In Part One, I discussed the ingredients that you might use, or look for, in a Toner for Normal skin.
In Part Two, I continued with the next skin type: Oily.
In Part Three, the post went on to discuss the skin type: Dry.
The next skin type is Combination Skin.
Combination skin is when you have both Oily and Dry skin – it’s most common manifestation is having an oily, blemish-prone “T-Zone” (the areas of the forehead, nose, and chin), with dry cheeks.
This combination Skin is one of the more difficult skin types…you can’t just blanket bomb the entire face with a product formulated ONLY for Oily or Dry, but have to find a good product that will help both conditions…conditions that are completely opposite. Although it sounds impossible, this skin type can be normalized.
When dealing with a specific skin type, each toner is created with the following ingredients in mind:
- A liquid (or liquids) that is the main ingredient
- One or more Essential Oils for specific needs
- Possible extra additives for other specific needs
The toner ingredients we look for to assist Combination skin are:
- The liquid: You could choose Distilled Water, Hydrosol, Aloe Vera, or Witch Hazel. Any of the four would do no harm, but the Aloe Vera or Witch Hazel might be better. If you choose the Distilled Water, it would simply be an inert ingredient to use to mix with your active ingredients. The other ingredient to add would be Jojoba Oil. Before you worry about applying “anything” oil to your oily nose, Jojoba Oil is the closest ingredient to our own sebum, and will help your body think it has already produced enough oil for the time being, and it also is a great moisturizer!

Aloe Vera
- The Essential Oil: on Combination skin, I would use the following Essential Oils that will benefit both areas of the skin: Roman Chamomile, Rose, Lavender, and Bergamot.

Witch Hazel
